Currently there are several types of baby pillows that are available in the market which help one wonder about its function in the life of a toddler. Soft bedding, baby sleeping on his stomach and baby pillow causes strangulation and suffocation in children under the age of one. One fact is that the baby pillow is as harmful as sleeping on their stomach and soft beddings. Major causes of suffocation in younger children includes the baby pillows. This happens if the pillow ends up on the face of the baby if he grasped it accidentally. If the baby fails to remove the pillow from his face, he may get suffocated.

Therefore, nowadays baby pillows are widely used in hospitals as well as homes.
Baby pillows are required for babies to provide them comfort and to avoid flat head syndrome. Flat head syndrome is also known as Plagiocephaly and it is caused because of improper positioning of baby head when it is sleeping. Moreover, ears of babies are also covered in baby pillows which help them in catching ear infections. Baby pillows have high quality of foam which distributes equal pressure to the head of baby from all sides.

Or commission a pillow to be printed with a photograph of the baby’s grandparents. If you have artistic skills, you can even buy a plain baby pillow and a blank pillowcase, and paint or cross stitch a unique design.
A nursing pillow is large and shaped like a horseshoe, and the mother rests it in her lap to hold the baby up so that she does not have to support the baby in her arms when she nurses. (Fathers can use them when bottle feeding, too!) The main brand is Boppy, so nursing pillows are often called boppies, but there are a number of competing brands on the market as well.
A baby pillow for sleeping is much smaller and less plump than adults’ pillows.

They are great to lean on when baby gets tuckered out. I like the fact that they keep baby’s head away from the plastic on the car seat. Most car seats come with a pillow, but I prefer to purchase a separate one. The ones included with the seat just are not quite as cushy as one that you can pick out yourself.
Baby pillows are great for so many uses.

The purpose of the baby pillow is to comfort and not to secure the baby in the crib. This gives you a chance to explore various creative options while making the gift.
The latest and most popular way to accessorize and personalize a baby pillow is by getting the photo of the baby printed on it.

She was so happy in the crib, I don’t think she would have even if she was not wearing one. When we moved her to her bed, there was no drama. She took a couple naps there, then we moved her to the bed for nighttime, as well. It was a full size bed in a beautiful wooden frame. She had two pillows and a big comforter.

Having said that, if a blocked nose is keeping your baby up during nights, one way to help it through this is to elevate the baby’s head while sleeping, gravity helps in draining sinus. Now, that’s not the only way to drain sinus but it is one. This can also be achieved without a pillow though as there are various other methods as well.
Here are some things to look for in a baby pillow. Use a small pillow which is light in weight for the baby.

These pillows are approved by surgeons and specialists to avoid any problem later on. Unlike an ordinary pillow, special foam is used in the baby pillows to make them soft for babies. Cushioing material usually includes Visco elastic and it reduces the risks of Flat Head Syndrome in babies. This cushion unlike other types of materials does not bounce back and gives even pressure to the delicate head of your baby.
You cannot believe that with the use of a perfect baby pillow how much risk you are avoiding.

This could be the case, because most physicians ONLY recommend them for kids over the age of two. Regardless, sometimes a baby pillow can be used to good effect before the second year, and certainly after. Coughing can be lessened with the head propped up on a pillow if a child has a respiratory infection or cold. If your child has an ear ache, propping the head up on a pillow can relieve the pain in this case, too. In such scenarios, it is still important to ask your pediatrician if this is safe and beneficial for your child.

If you’re willing to do a little basic sewing, you can also make your child a pillowcase for their baby sleep pillow. Take the pillow’s measurements along its outermost seams. To find the dimensions of the fabric you need to make the pillowcase, add half an inch to all sides, plus two to four inches along the longest side so you can finish the open end of the pillowcase. For example, if your child’s pillow is 10″ by 10″, each piece of cloth should be about 11″ by 13″. Before you cut the fabric, wash it to preshrink it and to remove the sizing (a kind of starch that bolt fabric is treated with).

One of the very first benefits that become evident in the very early stages in your baby’s life are that the baby pillows help in the formation of the shape of the baby’s head and make sure that the head of the baby does not become either deformed or too flat. Several such pillows that are used for this specific purpose are commonly available in the market and stores near youActually they aid to tuck the baby in the crib safely, ensuring that the baby does not fall in case of any movement made by them.

You might then assume that the same thing follows with babies. Well, the truth of the matter is, babies can sleep soundly and normally even without pillows. In fact, they do not need pillows to have a very comfortable sleep. What’s more, it would be safer for them to sleep without pillows on their cribs. So even if you got the pillow from the set of crib beddings, until your baby reaches toddler stage, experts all recommend that you do not use the pillow.

Young children are exposed to SIDS when they lay by their sides, which often results in them turning head down on the surface. This situation results in suffocation. These pillows are made to prevent child from turning sides.
The pillows are widely used in bassinets of newly born infant. The foam underneath the pillow will mold itself according to the shape of baby’s head which helps the baby relax.

I say this out of experience of seeing my baby sleep soundly without once bringing out the late night feed ever since she started sleeping on a memory foam pillow.
The benefits of a baby pillow don’t end there. According to some doctors, having a pillow, raises the baby’s head slightly above the rest of the body and makes breathing easier especially when the baby is suffering from a cold. They also opine that pillow support prevents cranial deformities which can occur if the baby sleeps with head to one side for a long duration. Make sure you check the pillow cover.

A feather pillow can cause allergies and a soft pillow may result in suffocation; both are therefore best avoided. A pillow such as the latest memory foam baby pillows are good products which provide the requisite support and firmness and are accident free.
There are different kinds of baby pillows available in the market. The key is to identify which sort of pillow is best for your baby. Crib pillows are safe provided they are narrow and thin and not too soft.

Second, does your child need a baby pillow? Because toddlers and babies are proportioned differently from adults, they often sleep perfectly well without a pillow. The best sign that your child is ready for a baby pillow is when he or she starts sleeping with his or her head on a stuffed toy or balled up bedding.
Third, what size should a baby pillow be? Small, flat pillows, like the pillows you get on an airplane, are the best ones to choose for your baby. Using a smaller pillow will prevent your child from elevating his or her head too high and waking up with a crick in the neck.
Fourth, what should a baby pillow be stuffed with? Even though down and feather pillows are delightfully soft and comfortable, don’t give them to your child.

All of them has a unique function, and there are some that you will be glad that you have! There are baby pillows that position the head and body of the baby while they are sleeping, there are baby pillows that are specifically designed for nursing, and there are even baby pillows designed to position a baby while they are riding in the car, just to name a few.
I think the bassinette pillows on the market today are great. These types of baby pillows position baby so that he or she is flat on their back, which is what is recommended. However, there are new versions of these types of pillows that I like even better. These newer versions include memory foam which will cradle the baby’s head and really mold to the baby’s unique shape, rather than making the baby’s soft mold to the pillow.

A baby pillow that is designed for nighttime is smaller and flatter than an adult’s pillow. Full sized adult pillows can give children neck cramps and make them sleep poorly because they are proportioned differently from adults. Luxurious adult pillow stuffing like down and feathers can give them allergies, so it is best to avoid these, too. Choose a baby pillow that is half the size and thickness of an adult’s pillow or less, with hypoallergenic stuffing and a smooth, soft cover. As a final touch, add pillowcases printed with the child’s favorite animal or cartoon character.

Another leading cause of SIDS is rebreathing. Rebreathing is when the baby breathes carbon dioxide or what is more commonly known as bad air. Rebreathing happens when the baby, instead of breathing oxygen, inhales the carbon dioxide he has exhaled. When you leave the baby in his crib, the loose sheets or beddings may get over his head, causing rebreathing. Many do not realize that rebreathing may also be caused by baby pillow.

For instance, have a pillow embroidered with a poem that is meaningful to the parents, or that expresses your hopes for the child. Or commission a pillow to be printed with a photograph of the baby’s grandparents. If you have artistic skills, you can even buy a plain baby pillow and a blank pillowcase, and paint or cross stitch a unique design.
Nursing pillows are large, U shaped pillows that the mother arranges in her lap to provide extra support for the baby while she nurses. (Fathers can use them when bottle feeding, too!) Nursing pillows are nicknamed “boppies,” after the top brand, Boppy, but there are several good brands on the market.

But many simply refuse to believe that baby pillows are harmful. Thus many children are still being victimized by something that is so innocent looking as baby pillows. What parents should know is that, the main cause of fatalities under that age is SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome. Suffocation, strangulation and rebreathing in children go hand in hand with SIDS. The baby pillow plays an important role in most of these cases.
