These pillows are not like the ones adults and older children use. If you want to give one as a gift, look for a small travel size baby sleep pillow. Get one that you can wash and is hypoallergenic. Do not get one that has things on it that a small child could choke on. You do not want a child to choke on something.

Test the firmness before buying a baby pillow so that the baby will not be smothered by sinking his or her little nose into it. It is safe to teach a baby to sleep on a baby pillow after it becomes two years old. Before the age of two babies can get suffocated on a pillow. It might prove dangerous to do otherwise. A non allergic body pillow is not a bad alternative either.
