A Baby Pillow Should Never Be Used Until Your Child Reaches Two Years Old
It is natural that you will want to lavish the new baby that you have been expecting for many months, with all kinds of cute and cuddly gifts, to welcome your baby home. You literally have an endless selection available to you, in a wide variety of stores. There are cute and cuddly stuffed animals, and of course you just have to get them their very own baby pillow to put in the baby bed with them. It must be ok to buy pillows for babies, since so many of your favorite stores carry them, right? This is most definitely NOT the case. Not only is doing such a thing not ok, it can be very dangerous, and can even be fatal to put a stuffed animal or baby pillow in the same bed with your newborn or infant baby. It does not matter if your adorable baby sleeps in his or her very own baby bed or in a bassinet, putting any type of pillow or other item such as a furry little stuffed animal can actually be deadly.
A variety of things are used in the making of these pillows, and any one of them could be harmful for your baby. Every newborn baby has skin that is extremely sensitive. Your newborns skin could become irritated very easily from the various dyes and fabrics that are used to make a baby pillow.
When many parents think of the comfort of their bundle of joy, they are only trying to be helpful when they buy a baby pillow. However, if you are expecting, the very first thing you can do for the benefit of your new baby, is become educated on many of the safety issues that can literally mean the life and death of your baby. The bottom line is, there are too many risks that are involved when you put a pillow close to a baby that is under the age of two. Even at two years of age, some toddlers are not ready for a baby pillow. It is advised by many researchers, that until a child reaches the age of two years old, and they have outgrown the need for a baby bed, you should not use pillows.

You will know your child is ready for a pillow when they sleep restlessly or when they start balling blankets or stuffed toys under their head.
Third, what size should a baby pillow be? Small, flat pillows, like the pillows you get on an airplane, are the best ones to choose for your baby. A too high pillow will cause your child to wake with a sore neck, but a small pillow will stop this from happening.
Fourth, what is the best filling for a baby pillow? You may love the soft, fluffy comfort or down or feather pillows, but children are not ready for them. They are too soft for small children, and their filling can give children allergies to down or feathers.

Decorative pillows are available in almost every size, shape, and color to match any decor. You can also have a baby pillow customized. For instance, find a pretty pillow that matches the child’s bedroom, and have it embroidered with the child’s name and birthdate to create a keepsake. Or commission a pillow to be printed with a photograph of the baby’s grandparents. If you have artistic skills, you can even buy a plain baby pillow and a blank pillowcase, and paint or cross stitch a unique design.

High quality baby pillows are made up of materials which are easily washable. This makes these pillows very durable and even if they are expensive then at least you know that you are not going change it frequently.
Baby pillows are available in various designs, prints, colors and sizes. Colors and prints can be selected with your choice but for the size you need to consider some factors. It is better to select a pillow size which is large enough so that a baby can roll over it.

It is a specially designed pillow for babies which caters for all eventualities and are specifically risk free. Always buy good branded pillows which may be a bit costly but are safe and of a good quality. Feather pillows are to be strictly avoided as they are known to cause allergies among children.
Baby head pillows are important because they keep the baby’s head in a slightly elevated position thus ensuring that the air passage remains unobstructed and the baby can breathe easily. The head elevation also prevents vomiting of the bedtime feed.

A suitable baby pillow is made in consideration to the safety and comfort of the baby.
Although it is appropriate for your baby to sleep at its back but still you should also lay them on their tummies when awake. Never try to use, average sized pillows for toddlers because they are firmer. It can be difficult for you to explore each shop in the market for the selection of a baby pillow therefore, the best idea is to find a perfect pillow on internet.
This highlights that baby pillows are very beneficial for the safety and comfort of your baby.

By doing this, you will know that your gift will coordinate with the nursery. Alternatively, if you pick a neutral design for the baby pillow it will coordinate with different bedroom themes as the child grows.
What type of design do you want to create on the personalized baby pillow? You can get as creative as you want. One traditional option for a baby pillow is to include the full name of an infant and details about his or her birth, such as height, weight, and birthday. Another idea is to find a meaningful quote or verse.

Should you use a baby sleep pillow?Ever wonder what people used in the ancient past when there were no pillows even for adults? Well, baby sleep pillows are pretty much a new need these days. Doctors do not even recommend that you put a baby sleep pillow in with an infant or toddler under the age of two. The reason for that is that the baby could suffocate. Some baby sleep pillows have been recalled due to safety concerns.
If you have a child over the age of two years old, the baby sleep pillow is perfectly safe though.

Nevertheless, all toddlers require a good night’s rest and a sound sleep is vital to maintaining good health. Therefore, comfortable night clothing, pleasant surroundings, suitable bedding and importantly, a good baby head pillow are a must. It is important that the pillow is of a good quality and not too soft. In some cases, pillows too soft are known to cause smothering. Also remember most toddlers twist and turn while sleeping.
